Board of Directors

The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and oversight for Breckenridge Montessori. Its role is to set and uphold the organization’s mission and strategic plan, ensure financial accountability, and oversee governance. The board hires and evaluates the Executive Director, ensures legal and ethical compliance, supports fundraising, and plans for leadership succession, all while acting in the best interest of the organization and its stakeholders.

Board Members

  • Chair: Kathryn Califf, Summit Foundation

    • Kathryn is passionate about championing the school's mission and community and chairs the Governance Committee. Kathryn works for the Summit Foundation as the Community Impact Officer for Grants and Nonprofits. She has a daughter, Cameron, who graduated from Breckenridge Montessori and a son, Reid, at Little Red Schoolhouse. 

  • Vice President: Open role 

  • Secretary: Brittany Krieger, HR Consultant

    • Brittany’s background is in corporate Human Resources and talent management. She leads teams and initiatives focused on leadership development, change management, and people strategy. Brittany leads the Building Transition Committee and is committed to identifying and securing a long-term, sustainable future for the school. Her family moved to Breckenridge in 2019 and her daughter attends Breckenridge Montessori. 

  • Treasurer: Katie Cooper, Self-employed

    • Katie has vast past experience managing businesses and performing financial and administrative work in the private sector. She serves as Treasurer and Financial Committee chair and supports the organization through solid financial oversight. Katie has two daughters attending Breckenridge Montessori, Ellie and Abby. 

  • Karlie McLaughlin, BreckCreate

    • Karlie brings to the board valuable experience in nonprofit work across multiple sectors. She utilizes her expertise and proven success in nonprofit development  to chair the Fundraising Committee. Karlie works for BreckCreate as Senior Director of External Relations. She has a daughter, Quinn, at Timberline Early Learning Center. 

  • Kyle Gilmore, Town of Breckenridge

    • Kyle serves as the Building Task Force Chair to ensure the safety and efficiency of our current space. Kyle works for the Town of Breckenridge as the Parks Assistant Manager and serves as an integral connection to our community. He has a daughter, Luka, who graduated from Breckenridge Montessori and a daughter, Wren, who is currently attending. 

  • Sarah Swinger, St. Anthony Summit

    • Sarah brings passion to support the Board, family and staff connection through chairing the Liaison Committee. She works as a Medical Laboratory Technician at St. Anthony Summit Hospital. She has a son, Colby, who graduated from Breckenridge Montessori and a son, Bergen, who is currently attending.
