Preschool-Aged Classroom Assistant (Full-Time)

Breckenridge Montessori is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Classroom Teacher for ages 2.5-6 years to support our Lead Teacher and help create a nurturing, engaging Montessori classroom.

This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young children in an active, hands-on environment and is excited to grow as an educator. Our Montessori-trained lead teacher brings deep passion for the Montessori philosophy and mentors assistants as valued members of the teaching team.

We are a small, close-knit school of just 20 students in a single mixed-age classroom, where teamwork, collaboration, and a positive culture are essential. Located on historic Main Street in beautiful Breckenridge, our nonprofit preschool is surrounded by mountain views, local cafés, and vibrant community life. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom lessons and activities

  • Actively supervise children during classroom work, free play, and outdoor exploration

  • Support classroom routines including nap time, bathroom needs, and transitions

  • Help maintain a clean and organized classroom and facilities space

  • Provide introductory lessons and assist children with Montessori learning materials

  • Support a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment

  • Maintain a consistent and positive approach to communication with children, parents and staff across oral and written platforms.

  • Bring dependability, patience, and enthusiasm to daily work with young children.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children required

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • CDEC Early Childhood Teacher qualification preferred

  • Montessori experience helpful but not required

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must pass FBI, CBI and Child Abuse/Neglect background checks

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain with organization support)

Compensation & Benefits

  • $20–$30 per hour depending on experience and CDEC Professional Credential Level

  • 35-hour work week Monday–Thursday (7:45am–4:30pm) required 

  • Additional work hours available on Fridays
